Any child participating in NC Pre-K must be four years old on or before August 31, 2025. (DOB 9.1.2020 through 8.31.2021)
The Partnership for Children administers the NC Pre-K program, funded by the State of North Carolina, in Johnston County. There are specific eligibility requirements and limited funding. Priority is given to children from low-income families, children with disabilities accompanied by an Individual Education Plan (IEP), or has been identified as being “at-risk" by state criteria. *There are a couple of options If your child does not meet the age requirement for NC PreK
1. You can apply for Title 1 or Fee for Service via Johnston Co Public Schools. More info can be found here: JC Public Schools Preschool Program
2. You can apply for Head Start via Johnston Lee Harnett Community Action: More info can be found here: JLH Head Start
Please have the following documents ready before you begin the application process:
❑ Birth Certificate
❑ Current Proof of Income (all income received: including pay stubs for the previous month, unemployment, documentation of child support received (even if not for child applicant), Disability, Veteran's benefits, SSI, etc)
❑ Proof of Address (Light bill, Water bill OR Rental/Lease Agreement, Mortgage statement, OR Residency Statement from landlord/roommate if no utilities / rental agreement in parent’s name.)
The following items will also need to be submitted as soon as possible:
❑ Preschool Health Assessment Form (Completed within the last 12 months)
❑ Up to Date Immunization/Shot Record (Print out from Dr’s office is preferred)
❑ Other (IEP, letter from doctor or therapist providing services to child, developmental screenings) (if applicable)
❑ Copy of Legal guardianship papers (if applicable)
